No matter what denomination you grew up in, you probably had to "know" the right answer to Bible trivia. As we get older, we are considered "godly" or "really religious" based on what we know, which is to say what we can regurgitate. This is not to say that we shouldn't seek to gain more knowledge about God, but to become disciples of Jesus, to do everything He told us, we need to transform those "right answers" into automatic responses for every day situations.
Look at it like this. Most people in church have a lot of information about God, Jesus, and all the rest. Not all of that information is accurate, but they generally do the best they can. But to simply have the information is not enough, we must BELIEVE what we know. In a real world example, when you see a red light, you BELIEVE that when you hit the brake peddle your car will stop. It's so automatic that you don't really think about it at all.
So it is with God. We read our Bibles, go to church, gather a lot of information, but how many of us truly BELIEVE all that? The challenge for Christians, no matter where they are in life, is simply this: to bring people (themselves included) to believe with their whole being all the information that they already have.
True transformation starts within ourselves as we come to believe what we've learned about Jesus, as we've gotten to know Him, just like the first disciples did.
